A great hotel in Lima
This hotel is located in a safe neighborhood in Lima. In fact, it’s where Mexican president Calderón stayed during a Pacific/Asia summit held two weeks ago in Peru. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was quiet. The hotel taxi will take you to the airport for $29, this was much less expensive than the $49 we had to pay from the airport. Also, the taxi/hotel driver was extremely helpful, insisting he get out of the taxi and help us find our cruise line representatives.

Good 4 Star Experience...
Just got back from a 3 day visit to the Hotel Melia. The staff is friendly, the room was fairly modern and all appliances worked fine. The room had both 110V and 220V outlets and an in-room safe. I asked about the drinkability of the tap water, and while they said it was indeed filtered, the front desk humbly suggested I proceed with caution. Anyway, I ended up getting tired of buying bottled water and drank the hotel’s tap water with no deleterious side effects. Overall the staff was very helpful and friendly. The location is not walking distance to anything newsworthy, but if nothing else its a very safe neighborhood. Avoid rooms on the front of the building, because people in Lima loving honking their horns and those rooms are loud. Stay on the other side and all will be fine.
