Excellent value for price, location, and quality of service
This is our second stay at the Abacus - Ok, so it’s not plush but it’s rooms are soundproof, spacious, clean and very well well cared for, as is the whole hotel. Staff professional, friendly and helpful, breakfast good and plentiful, dinner buffet reasonably priced - food not gourmet but excellent. U-Bahn station just a minute away with frequent trains to centre (about 15 mins)and they run until 1.00 am - Tram stop is just outside the door but it’s a suburban route so it goes nowhere in particular - nice ride if you like trams though! Definitely will go back - definitely recommend it - not a bad trip by public transport from either Tegel or Schonefeld.
Traveller's tip
Don’t buy the 3 day berlin tourist pass for transport - it’s cheaper to buy the one day or 7 day and zap around - the discouts on the museums etc are negligble for what you pay - the ticket machine can be used in English!
