Lovely Hotel
Stayed at the New York Palace Hotel for 6 nights. Was a lovely hotel - we had a corner room over looking St Patricks Cathedral (recommend getting this for the extra you pay) - huge room, very comfortable, clean and well maintained although nothing special with regards to decoration (i.e. just a hotel room). Reasonable size bathroom & good shower! Staff very nice and helpful, dinner at Gilt nice but VERY expensive - there are better restaurants in NY for alot less. Good location if you want shopping on 5th Avenue and the tourist sites such as central park, empire state, etc.
Recommend going upstate for a day to Bear Mountain.

WONDERFUL
Our stay at the beautiful NY Palace was over the weekend of Oct. 17. We reserved an executive level room with access to the executive lounge. The Palace staff upgraded us to the 34th floor with an amazing view overlooking the very center of Saint Patricks Cathedral. The room was very spacious, quiet, clean and comfy. Linens were changed every day. When you push the "privacy" button, house keeping will not disturb you at all. The staff is gracious and eager to please. A couple of doormen/bellmen were rather stiff...some uniforms were not fresh. Over all, they were quick and helpful. There are NO coffee-makers, but room service delivers quickly. The buffet breakfast in the lounge was delicious...bacon, ham, sausage, eggs, potatoes, oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, OJ, pastries and more. Mornings are a little busy. The mid-day snack/lunch included tasty sandwiches and fruits. We requested 2 glasses of wine and it was served immediately at no charge. In the evening there is an open bar with wine, beer etc. No finger foods... only chips and nuts. Cookies, teas and coffees are always available. Its a great deal even if you only have breakfast and a little wine before dinner. Cheese burgers in the bar were excellent. We had to spend most of our time in the hotel and totally enjoyed it. Next visit, we might try something in the middle of all the action.
