Convenient Location
Rydges is very handily placed for Central Brisbane exploration. A 10-15 minute walk across Victoria Bridge will take you straight into the Queen St. shopping area. The area around the hotel, Southbank, is a kind of mini Covent Garden with some quite good restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is a slick operation, friendly staff very laid back but helpful. Good bar on the ground floor. I’d definitely go back.

Good service: good hotel cafe
Very good the only disapointment was that our rom was on level one and had no view or sun: there was a courtyard but overlooked by an embankment.

Ideal Base to Explore the City
Rydges Southbank occupies a prime location in Brisbane’s Southbank, providing easy walking access to the man-made Streets Beach attraction and river. Shopping in Queen Street Mall is a short walk away across the river. The hotel itself is very well maintained by a team of polite and helpful staff. Our room actually turned out to be a suite with a balcony, much larger than expected and finished to a very high standard throughout. As a tourist I would recommend this hotel to other travellers. I would also consider this to be a good choice for business travellers.
Unless you are familiar with inner city driving, Brisbane can be very difficult to navigate around. We hired a car for our trip and drove into Brisbane...and out the other side by accident. We then drove back in from the other side and eventually found our way across to Southbank. Use Satnav or public transport.
