Maintenance!
Everything was fine until the last night, when the hotels boiler started making horrible noises... They said they fixed it but it happened again and again... so we had to leave as our 9 month old daughter couldnt sleep.

Service was appalling
We booked the hotel as a tack-on to a day-trip to Portsmouth intending to 1) Have a good, quiet meal and chill in the spa the next day before returning home. The latter part failed because the spa proved extremely difficult to contact (it took 7 calls and 2 failed returns of answerphone messages before I got through and was brusquely told the spa was fully booked. The first part failed because the hotel didnt publicise that it had shut the a la carte restaurant for refurbishment. This isnt mentioned on their website, upon booking, at check in or even in the brochure for the restaurant in the room. As a result we ate rather average food in a brasserie with a raucous wedding party a few feet away at the bar. Restaurant service was very poor - it took four requests to get coffee served and then I was given half a cup of black coffee and told it was espresso. No one followed up my complaint except that in the middle of the night I received a silent call on the room phone apparently from the reception area. Marriott has lost its way - there were plenty of staff but no organisation and even less interest in its customers. Go elsewhere.
