Motel 6 is a luxury hotel in comparison
Motel 6 is a luxury hotel in comparison. Awfully hot rooms, very basic bathroom and poor furnishings make this hotel no more than 2 star hotel at the best.

A place with history and character
I needed an inexpensive place to stay before heading off for an early flight at Schipol, so I randomly picked this hotel so I wouldn’t have to go into Amsterdam. Turns out that the hotel is a fairly 60s retro unusual building with a theater and cool bar in the lobby. Parking was easy after they gave me instructions. They also had free wireless Internet, which is welcome in Europe. I’m not going to call it charming, just interesting. That’s not a euphemism for bad. You just don’t see hotels like this in very many places. I wish that I had been able to see a show in the theater. It was pretty big. The room was large, the bathroom was especially clean. Large windows showed off the architecture of the room. My only complaints were that the windows allowed in some extra light (even in the dead of winter) and there was a noisy air-conditioner sound outside of my room. The staff was young and very nice, full of suggestions. All but one were fluent in English and even she had functional English, if that’s important to you. My flight was delayed for several hours, so I was able to walk around Hilversum, which is small and charming. Very walkable.

Good Value fro money if you stay in Hilversum
This hotel was obviously of a higher standard in the past but looks like it has past its glory days. Still a good place to stay for the night. Rooms are spacious and neat and have everything you need for a good night sleep. My room however was very cold when I arrived and since I only stayed the one night it was only getting at a comfortable temperature when I left. Fair to say it was rather cold outside (- 13 degree C) but the radiator was on low at my arrival at 10.00 pm and the bathroom was freezing. Other then the temperature I would recommend this as a place to stay overnight and I will probably come back if I have to stay in the area.
