Fantastic BUT !
This is an excellent hotel, on the banks of the river and within a few yards of the main shopping centres, very close to the river bank resturuants. Comfortable rooms and very clean However the only downside was the service in the bar area, on three occassions no one was serving in the bar and on the days that corporate functions and exhibtions within the hotel were taking place we were and felt pushed asside by the events that seemed to take priorty, even to being pushed to the side of the court yard and lounge area to enjoy our drinks. On the whole though a very pleasant expereince

The Perfect Choice
After many confusing web-searches, i realize the Stamford Plaza was the perfect choice for my 3-day stay in Brisbane. The hotel is gorgeous, exceeded only by the meandering riverview from my room. The location is perfect for stretching out after a long flight: miles of nearby walkways lined with cafes, adjacent to a city park, and an easy walk to a nearby pier where you can hop-on and hop-off any CityCat, ferry, bus, or train all day long (that puts everything within easy reach) -- i even jumped on a Cat with luggage in tote to reach the cruise terminal, skirting a $40 taxi fare. Staff gave me a free toothbrush & toothpaste, and discounts to the hotel breakfast, when the airlines sent my luggage to the wrong country. Only slight negative: housekeeping needs to use clorox on minor shower grout mold (a strange finding for such an awesome manor).

Ideal location in Brisbane
We would thoroughly recommend the Stamford Plaza Hotel if you visiting Brisbane (which we would also strongly recommend - its better than Sydney!). The hotel has a modern exterior but the interior has a more traditional feel. It is exceptionally clean and tidy and the staff are very helpful. You could not ask for a better location as it is ideally positioned right on the river, near the riverside restaurants and next to the excellent botanical gardens. Rates were very reasonable for this standard of hotel.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
The CitySights tour bus is recommended. The tour takes you round many interesting points of the very attractive city. Be sure to get off at Mt. Coot-tha. The day ticket also allows you to use the CityCat catamaran service.
