Beachfront views, if slightly rundown
My wife and I stayed here 3 days in February. First, the view of the beach are extraordinary - you can see forever up and down the white sandy border of the Indian Ocean. That said, the hotel is a little run down - the main restaurant closed, and the area clearly has been hit with bad economic times. Plus its a LONG way from the airport and downtown Perth, but then again, youre going for the beach, right? Staff was extremely helpful, and was able to get us a room a day earlier than planned.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
You can take the bus to downtown Perth, which I recommend, if only for a day. Hotel has laundry facilities and pool bar (which makes for a great day if you combine the two). Ditch the pub and go across the street (south) - great food and service.

Excellent hotel
Excellent hotel and friendly staff - nothing too much trouble for them. Fantastic views of Scarborough Beach from room balcony. Room large and adequate and very clean. Food in The Pines very good and you can eat as much as you like. A must see is the sunset from the beach. Very sad to leave but will be returning to the hotel again next year.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
We found hiring a car at the airport an absolute must as you are able to travel a bit further out from Perth to see more attractions and wildlife.
