HORRIBLE. A total scam
This is NOT a 4-stars hotel: its dirty, staff is rude, protitutes outside, overall feel that its a type of a hotel that "rents rooms by the hour". Impossible to believe that with all the European regulations it is rated 4-stars: by comparison to Villa Opera Drouot, Motel 6 would be a luxurious and clean lodging.

Something Different
When I decided to take my wife to Paris for the start of our honeymoon I had in mind a classy Parisian hotel with character. When I found this place I knew it would be great. Not quite the classic I had in mind but full of character both in architecture and decor. Its not luxury or chique but its comfortable and distinctively Parisian with some operatic glam thrown in. The bathroom was bigger in real life than it looked in the photo. The double bed was the classic Parisian-hotel two singles with one sheet affair although this was not as big a problem as Id thought it might be.
Turn left out of the hotel door and down the road for a quiet and reasonably priced petite table at the next cross roads opposite you on the left corner. Well cooked French food and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

A hint of luxury in 9th arrondissement
We had a fairly generously-apportioned room, pleasantly furnished with a large double bed. It was hard to shower without splashing the whole bathroom. The air-conditioning doesnt work, and our polite complaint was met with an offer to transfer hotels, which we did not want to do as our baggage was substantial. The next day, however, a portable fan was installed in the room. Most of the staff were helpful and friendly. The advertised bar was stocked with mostly empty bottles and was presumably there to gain an extra star in the ratings. I would recommend it at the Expedia rates, but definitely not at the rates posted in the room!
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Neighborhood not chic, but interesting, with some decent restaurants. Check out the passages, with great bookshops and a fabulous patisserie, Valentin, in the Passage Joffroy.
