Always a pleasure to stay in this hotel
Plenty parking, friendly and efficient staff, great location. Does Gluten free food and there is a good 10k run along the seafront and back.

The Grand Hotel not so Grand anymore
We stayed the night last night at the Grand. It is an impressive building, however the interior is in dire need of updating and some TLC. We booked last minute and got a reduced rate, the room we were assigned smelt like my granmothers house, and looked like it. At best I would say this was a 4* hotel, the little touches that make a hotel 5* were sadly missing. For example no moisturiser was included in the toileteries, when we called housekeeping for some we were told we had to pay for it... Beware, both restaurants require a tie and jacket to be worn by men and book in advance as we were told on arrival they were full. The staff were friendly and attentive, though seemed suspicous of us as we were under 50 and were wearing jeans on arrival. There is a more modern hotel 4 blocks down, if you are under retirement age and want desiger bedrooms at a reasonable rate I suggest you try there instead.
Try the Del Meastro which is a couple of roads down on the left from the Grand for dinner. And there is an Italian Coffee bar next to it which is a lot cheaper for Breakfast than the Grand who charge £21 for full English.

Wonderful hotel, very friendly staff, great location
I really did enjoy my stay at The Grand, the staff were very friendly indeed. There is plenty free parking, the location is wonderful on the seafront and the rooms have everything you need. The gym looked good although being on the seafront I chose to run along the full distance of the promenade from the hotel which is approx 10k there and back. This was a good value hotel.
Traveller's tip on dining
If you are on a gluten or wheat free diet this hotel has GF pasta and bread and will cook pretty much anything off the menu GF on request. I was very happy to be able to have Spag Bol for a change!
