Dont book a studio suite from an unhappy Irish couple!
We were excited at staying at the Goodwood Hotel for 3 nights during the Grand Prix. After a long flight and being escorted through the grounds to a separate annex of the hotel with the studio suites, our excitment turned to disappointment! The room smelt really bad. An explanation of the wood flooring and wooden furniture reacting to the humidity and temperatures of Singapore was unacceptable particularly as other hotels in the region with the same fixtures did not possess the stink! Our room escort also quickly backtracked after stating studios were sometimes used as staff quarters! A room change was also quickly refused as hotel was at full capacity seemingly! Furniture in the studio was old and stained. Air conditioning was poor and didnt deter the mosquitos! Noise from communal entrance balcony was very disruptive. The main hotel looked very nice but we spent most of our time away from the hotel and the awful suite. If you are considering the Goodwood think again! Spend your money eleswhere and get the 4/5star treatment you would expect when booking a hotel for your eagerly awaited holiday!
Go to the hawker stalls for a real foodie and cultural experience: they are inexpensive and you meet lots of fellow travellers as well as locals.

A hotel with real character
If you don’t want to stay in a high-rise hotel, the Goodwood is the place for you. The smaller number of rooms and courtyard arrangement give the hotel an intimate feel, and several of the restaurants have an outdoor section - great if you don’t want to be confined to airconditioned environments.

Quiet and convenience off the main street of Orchard Rd
On check in everything was ready and Front Desk staff was not only friendly but also quite efficient. The suite I stayed was located in front of the swimming pool and the gardent, where I had requested on reservation. The hotel was real small luxury hotel among the other large hotels in Singapore. Location was perfect off the main street which made the hotel very quiet but convenient. I was staying in the Poolside Suite.
