Very luxurious
The hotel is amazing, with views just as spectacular. We had an amazing time; the only complaint was you have to pay each day for parking (valet or self park) and its EXTREMELY hard to find. But once you figure it out (and get over the cost) its well worth it. The surrounding area is hard on the eyes, but the people in the hotel as well as the area were very friendly.
You have to see the Rainforest; we thought itd just be a bunch of trees and nothing special but it was absolutely amazing!! (You can forgo the cave, lots of hype, nothing special.)

A great week at the Rio Mar
We just got back from a week at the Rio Mar. Last time we were there two years ago it was not owned by Wyndam, so we werent sure what to expect. I was glad to see that many of the hotel staff from our earlier visit were still working there. The hotel and resort were in great shape, but being November the occupancy rate was quite low. The Wyndham people were wonderful and went out of their way to say hello or give assistance at every opportunity. The beach and the pools were beautiful and we were virtully alone when out golfing or walking the nature trails. Plenty of friendly Iquanas and native water birds were everywhere. Dinners at the resteraunts on site were quite good, with excellent service and presentation the norm. A special night out at a local place called Richies, which is located in the nearby hills, was absolutely incredible. The resteraunt provide no cost transportation to and from the hotel. The view from our table on the balcony was amazing. A great location for a price that was below what we expected. We will be going back again in the near future. Thanks Rio Mar for a great time.
Very good resteraunts for dinner at night but defiantely go to Richies for memorable cliff side dining. The ocean view on night when the gentle trade winds are blowing and the full moon is reflecting off the water is as romantic as it gets.

Windham Rio Mar resort
This is a very nice resort, with good restaurants at prices not too far from outside places. Very nice gardens, pools. Great location, close to San Juan, but away from the tourist areas. There is a nice beach too, but not very much used because of strong undertow. Very convenient to "el Yunque" national forest, with lots of walking trails and beautiful scenery.
You can be picked up at the airport, but it is expensive. It is better to rent a car, because this will be your main mode of transportation in the area.
