One night only

Went Poland for one night for a wedding so picked the Novotel based on price and that it was close to the airport. We were very impressed with the young gentleman on reception, and with the room. We were on the tenth floor, and I have to say it was so queit and peaceful. The bed was lovely, the pillows (square pillows in Poland!) and the duvet were perfect and the shower was great. The only thing a bit annoying was that the buffet breakfast was ultra expensive for what we had. Two cups of coffee, cereal and a croissant shouldn’t have cost what it did. So if you have the time that we didn’t, get up 15 mins earier and get taxi to town:) Otherwise a lovely place to stay for sure.

Buy water in town to take back to your room, cause we were told not to drink out the tap, and hotal water is expensive.

Good for families and parking

We stayed here for a short visit to Krakow. There were two large double beds in the room and plenty of space. The staff were keen to help as much as they could. They sent all the porters to search the hotel and phoned the free bus company when my son lost his camera. The hotel is approx 10 mins out of the city on the West side. This was good as we needed to park our car. We had a room on the 10th floor with views out to the Tatras. Breakfast was very good although paying for it was a fiasco, wrongly assuming once you had told staff the room you were in they would put it on the bill. No, you are supposed to pay before you leave the restaurant or they chase you around the hotel. You can pay for it at reception before you leave contrary to the view of the restaurant. We did.

There is a free bus that runs from the hotel to the centre, all be it at strange times. The service bus runs from just outside too for a few zts. If you buy the bus tickets at the newspaper stands it is slightly cheaper than if you pay the driver.

Great value for money!

Overall, nice hotel, clean, well sized rooms. Staff were helpful. The hotel is a bit out of the way, on a main road but isn’t a problem to get to city centre quickly, if you just want the hotel as a base. I think for the rate, you won’t get a much better hotel for the price, however the breakfasts were a bit pricey and personally I would recommend eating breakfast somewhere in the main square! I would also recommend using the tours that the hotel runs for the handiness of being picked up/left back to hotel if visiting Auschwitz or the Salt mines.

Breakfast here is average, nothing to scream about!

Good Hotel about 4km out of town

Although the Hotel is a little way out of Krakow old town the free shuttle bus is easy to make use of (3 times a day each way), plus we walked through the nearby park and it was a very pleasant walk into town about 40 mins at a stroll. The most annoying thing is you have to walk past the hotel to get to the entrance.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Chimera salad bar just off the main square is well worth the visit on a hot summers day. Wide varity of buffet style coices at about 16PLN for a 6 selection plate.

Can’t rate the staff and their taxi company highly enough

Hotel very clean and very comfortable and very well appointed. Staff speak very good English and arranged trips using taxi company who were excellent. Free bus into town, ran three times a day, but would recomend taxi which are reasonable and more convenient. We took 3 children, who were very welcomed. Nice inside swimming pool, a bit chilly! We needed hospital treatment, and staff at hotel arrange an English speaking taxi drive to help, they even had a wheel chair. Would return without any question.

Well worth the visit

This is a great hotel for your stay in Krakow. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, The staff are friendly, helpful and very knowledgable.Only a mile or so from the main market square there is a courtesy shuttle bus from the hotel reception several times a day. If you want to make your own way the bus stops outside the main gate and only costs 50p. A taxi will cost you £4.The food and drink in the hotel are a bit pricey but not enough to break the bank. Krakow is a great city to visit and explore. We enjoyed ourselves and you should too. Don’t miss the trips to the Salt Mines and the independant city tours.I’ve left Auschvitz till last, this trip was the main reason for visiting Krakow and for us was not to be missed.I will say though that this trip is not for everyone but I think is a must do. Enjoy !

Anywhere in and around the main market square. The food is good, the portions are on the large side and the prices will put a smile on your face.Treat yourself to a few beers in the open air cafes around the main square at only £1.80 a pint. All in all a very cheap weekend.

We had a superior room which was large and very comfortable.

A lovely hotel just outside the city. there is a shuttle bus about 3 times each day although we chose to use taxis to and from the city as they were very cheap. the hotel was quiet and the room and bed were very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel even although it is about 3km outwith the city.

The two faces of Krakow

Hotel was fantastic, Krakow was a wonderful experience. Take a Bus 208 from the airport, drops you just infront of Novotel. The restraurant is not that good (breakfast is not worth it) but the room service is fantastic. Try the salmon starters. On the way back, take a 208 again to the airport. Bus fares are 2.5 PLN, while taxi will cost you 60 PLN. The difference is not worth it. Hotel also has a shuttle service to town, use it the first day, afterthat switch to public transport.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

First do a trip to Austwitch, that’s the face of death and destruction. After you have sworn never to go back again, go to the salt mines, that’s the face of creativity !

Good place to stay

The Hotel is as good as many 4 star hotels in Cardiff, service is excellent. Only the Pool remains to remind you this used to Eastern BloK

Try Skiing in the Tatras mountains

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel

Hotel was an excellent choice - clean and friendly - we had a huge bedroom and the bed was really comfortable - nice bathroom. There was complimentary bottled water when we arrived which was nice. We only booked a room - breakfast was £10 each but excellent value with lots of chioce.Didnt use swimming pool. We did use the free shuttle bus as the only downside to hotel is its distance from the centre - it cist about £5-00 for a taxi but there were frequent buses available just opposite the hotel.

In the main square we went to some exquisite restaurants - The Piano Rouge,Szara and Chimera - Chimera have a great salad Bar which is brill for a snack - it cost about £4-00 for a huge plateful!!!

Very Nice Hotel

Great rooms with 2 double beds, some english tv channels and nice reception. Good food in the restaurant and reasonable prices. It is 2 miles or so out from the centre so costs a small amount in a taxi or very little on the bus. Located in the student area of town with no shops near by.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Stay here if you have more than 1 person cos you can split the taxi cost to the city centre.

Great value

We were impressed with this hotel - cheap, clean, comfortable and good size (standard twin room). Swimming pool was fine (not full length but can still do laps) although sauna was extra charge (massages available for a fee as well). The hotel was good standard with some nice extras such as free internet and free printing. Staff spoke good English and very helpful. Lifts were being upgraded while we were there but no adverse effect on us (work carried out during office hours). Downside (only reason it was cheap) was that it was about 2 miles out of town but the free shuttle bus suited our needs - often we were the only ones on (mid-December visit). It picked up/dropped off a few mins from the main square and there were 3 journeys each way (8:35am plus 1 afternoon, 1 early evening) and 3 late afternoon/evening. The same company that provided the free service did tours to Auschwitz, the salt mine etc which worked out quite nicely. There was also a local bus into town and a taxi would be about 5 quid.

Wonderful hotel - defenitley value for money and more

A group of nine of us stayed in this hotel with 5 double rooms. Firstly they arranged for 3 taxis to pick us up from the hotel and charged us only £10 per cab. The double rooms had 2 king sized beds in each and they were very modern and clean. The one problem with the rooms are that you can’t open the windows at all - but there is full working AC. Excellent hotel, freindly and helpful staff and only 5 mins by taxi to town centre.

Ask the hotel to arrange taxis to pick you up from the airport. They will charge at least 50% less from what you’d pay the taxis waiting outside and the drivers will be waiting for you in the airport.

Perfect hotel if you don’t mind a bit of a walk

Good hotel room spacious and clean Free internet in your room A 45 minute walk to the market square there is a free bus but it only goes a couple of times a day The restaurant and bar weren’t brilliant on price or variation but apart from that I couldnt fault the hotel at all

Took a taxi from the airport to hotel and it cost approx £15. However, we discovered that the 208 bus stops outside the hotel so we took it back to the airport on our return to the UK for around 50p each. The hotel is fine and the beds are large and comfortable with nice pillows. Daily maid service with clean bedding and towels. Be prepared to pay around £25 deposit to access the fridge in your room which is refundable. Swimming pool relaxing and the courtesy bus was never full on our visit (3.10.08 to 7.10.08) and stuck to its schedule. The staff were also very helpful but the reception desk was always busy so be prepared to wait your turn.

Great Hotel for the Price

Compared to hotels in downtown Krakow this was a steal. The rooms were well-equipped and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They run a free shuttle to the city center several times a day however it is only a 20zl cab ride if those times don’t meet your needs.

Exceptional service

Excellent in every respect. The only tiny quibble would be over the buses outside the hotel starting up their engines and running them outside the front of the hotel from 6.15 in the morning. Probably not entirely the hotel’s fault, but a slight irritant early in the morning. Otherwise, perfect!

Very nice hotel BUT

I cannot complain about the hotel as everything was excellent. My complaint is about the free shuttle service that is supposed to take you in and out of the city every hour. as it transpires this means every two and a half hours. the transportation in and out of the city was the only reason I decided to stay that far out. and I was not impressed with the shuttle times OR the lack of space on the bus as it only held 24 people, considering the hotel has over 150 rooms this caused a few people to not get on the bus and for a scuffle to take place on the way back one night. Apart from that I would recommend the hotel for anyone not bothered about distance from the old town.

Excellent hotel

excellent hotel - staff friendly and helpful

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Get the free bus from the hotel into town - make sure you are early going out and coming back. People don’t believe in queing so make sure you get to the front of the queue
