Rude management, but otherwise very comfortable
The only experience that marred our stay was an encounter with one particularly rude and unhelpful manager on duty on the last night of my stay. I called to ask what might be the best way to get to the airport the following morning. His curt response was, come to the front desk and well give you directions. I explained that I meant should I take a cab, or was there a shuttle, etc. "Sure, whatever." Well, is there a shuttle schedule you can tell me about? My flight leaves tomorrow at noon. "Yeah, I think theres a shuttle that leaves around 10." Not only was he terse, for no apparent reason, but when we checked out the following morning, we discovered that the shuttles left at 9 and 11; there was no scheduled shuttle that would get us to the airport in time. Thankfully, the lady working the front desk very kindly arranged for us to be taken to the airport, and apologized for the manager I had spoken with the previous evening.

nice place
everything was good, not spectacular, but good. they allowed us to check in 3 hours early because they had a room that was clean and available, but unfortunately it was right next to the elevator shaft, so it was a little noisy. almost like having a strong wind blowing against the windows the whole time, not awful, but slightly annoying at times. we didnt spend a lot of time in the room anyway, as halifax is such a wonderful city with so much to do. almost everything you really need to see is within walking distance (2 miles) of the hotel so we spent morning to night walking the city. didnt spend any time in the hotel outside of coming in to sleep at night, so i cant really comment on amenities. great city though and this hotel is a good location to see it from.
Traveller's tip
dont bother with a rental car, or even a bike. the town is great for walking and the people are wonderful. there are just a handful of places where you might want to take a cab (we took the cab to a pre-season hockey game at the forum for about $8 each way), but otherwise everything is just a nice walk away.

Stay away from room 627
While the hotel is up to Westin standards, room was clean, bed comfortable. My complaint is that in one of the most picturesque ports in the world my room had one window that was too high to look through. Normally I would have gone down and complained and asked for another room, but we were exhausted and went right to bed. Ill know better next time.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Call and ask about the room they are assigning. Tell them what you want.
