Not at all impressed
We stayed at the royal for three nights and were less then impressed. The room was in needed repair (shower head wouldn’t stay in place, toilet needed to be flushed repeatedly, etc). All little things in themselves, but they needed to be repaired. There was no air conditioning and the hotel had no fans available. The worst part was having two wedding reception taking place on a Sunday afternoon til 1am. Even though we were on the back side of the hotel from the reception, it was still very noisy.
Traveller's tip for business travellers
If you only need a one night stay, the hotel is more then adequate and has a rear door directly into the train station.

Good location noisy hotel
Stayed at this hotel as was working in the area on business. The hotel has character and is comfortable however this hotel is noisy well especially the room I was in. It seemed like someone was moving furniture above my room every 5 mins until 0230am. Not a restful night.
The restaurant food was of good quality however the staff seemed as though they struggled and the restaurant was not busy on the night I was there.
