Used to be my favorite hotel in Rome
I have stayed at this hotel 4 times, 3 of which were highly favorable... this time, the hotel just was not up to par.. the room was "tired", our friends room looked like a CSI crime scene.. and they were changed into a room that was so small their knees touched the wall when they were sitting in the bathroom.. I am embarrassed since I raved about the hotel on our other stays. No more! Need new hotel in Rome now.... what a shame

Nice hotel comfortable - small rooms
Sylvia & Allesandro at the front desk are very helpful - ask for them. The hotel is nice but the rooms and baths are very small. The beds are comfortable but the rugs in the rooms need replacing they are stained. Breakfast is pricey - eat elsewhere. The location is great - close to Spanish steps and in the middle of all the expensive stores. Unfortunately the euro compared to dollar makes shopping unreasonable. Close to metro which takes your right to Vatican and the colliseum. easy to get around. Unfortunately Italys 5 star does not compare to the US. More like a 4 star
Traveller's tip on dining
Try to research dining. We did not find the food in Rome to be all that great. we did hit one restaurant if you make a right out the hotel and a right at the corner walk 1/4 mile or so until you cant go any further. Right near a louis vuitton there is an excellent restaurant with homeade cannoloni which was out of this world. pas on the gelato it is cheaper on the streets
