Can’t wait to go back

The hotel is excellent, clean; its location is very convenience and quiet. There two sub stations very close to the hotel. The hotel design is very cozy and warm. The staff was very helpful. I recommend this hotel 100%.

Hidden Gem

This is a fantanstic boutique hotel in an area that is often neglected - the financial district. Marble bathrooms with speakman showerheads through all the different types of rooms. Sferra bed linens. C.O. Bigelow products. Front desk, concierge, and doormen are all very pleasant people. Access to key subways for traveling around Manhattan are no more than 5 blocks away. The closest are the 2 & 3 lines which is 2 blocks from the hotel. 4 and 5 are just another 3 blocks up. Considering all the pluses you get with this hotel, this would easily be double the price if it was placed in Midtown.

thouroughly enjoyable

Our weekend stay at The Gild was thoroughly enjoyable. The room was cozy, clean and handsome. Two complaints: the opaque glass walls that separated the bath room from the main room which left little to the imagination when one was at the toilet, and the bellhop who held the door open for and extended period for no reason while the cold December air filled the lobby and bar where my wife and I were attempting to cozy up to a drink. But the staff was friendly, and we otherwise enjoyed our stay.

Modern gem in historic Wall street

Huge room for Manhattan, at a great price. Modern, but comfy. Easy to get a taxi, or get to the main subway line. Sexy in an area of "suits". Love the seaport!!!

Avoid Continental airlines if possible. Too many delays and cancellations, and the customer service people were very terse and rather snippy, and finally they didn’t even offer vouchers for hotel or meals, you had to ask. No attempts to book you a flight to get home on another airline, just spend the night in the airport (Newark).

Excellent choice for NYC

Gild Hall is a friendly and comfortable hotel located in a safe part of NYC. Perfectly located for the Statue of Liberty, South Street Seaport and World Trade Center and SOHO. Plus the subway is only minutes away. I would definitely stay here again and am so glad I didn’t pick a hotel in Times Square or Uptown. Great stuff.

AFFORDABLE LUXURY

Other hotels in this group are a bit steep for us but, given NY prices are high, this hotel is worth paying for. Very near to several subway lines and a bus route. Walking distance to CENTURY 21 and J & R the only decent cd store left in NY for new cds, seriously Worth paying for larger room with bath. Michael Stipe (a singer, I believe) stayed here and was featured in a magazine (nice provision of free magazines in room). Excellent big deli/supermarket a few yards away. Pleasant staff. Spoil yourself!!

GET A 7 DAY METRO PASS (also works on buses) Good value even for 4 or 5 days Who needs taxis?

Great small hotel in Financial District

If you want or need to stay downtown, give this hotel a try. Great service. Great location. Nice people. Harry’s Italian is just next door. Good small markets a block away. Terrific shopping at Century 21 and Symes nearby.

I can’t recomend this hotel

The people at the front desk were friendly and generally helpful. Everything is down hill from there. The hotel is shabby. The room was not suitable for two people. The bathroom was poorly sited and afforded no privacy for the user or the other occupant. The hotel could not offer me better accomdations. I would never stay here again.

Heavenly Hideaway

I had a wonderful stay at Gild Hall. After extremely stressful work days in mid-town, it was an easy subway ride back to this quiet, friendly hideaway. My room was lovely, although the bathroom "peepshow" glass made me aware that you would have to be sharing these rooms with a loved one! I would certainly stay here again, and had noting but exceptional service and a very quiet peaceful stay.

Nice hotel

Gild Hall is a nice little hotel. It is downtown and geared more for business than pleasure. I like the decor although as an interior designer, I would have thought out the frosted glass wall separating the bath from the bedroom area more carefully as light floods the bedroom and if someone is sleeping it is really light. They do need more staff at the front desk and a better taxi system but overall we had a pleasant stay.

When can we go back?

What a terrific hotel. The decor was a kind of combination of rustic and modern. It was so gorgeous and fun! We enjoyed the bar both nights and the bartender (whose name I didn’t get)was so delightful. We had a wonderful time visiting with her. Our room was so comfy and classy and the only thing bad I can say is I ate a dark chocolate candy bar that was stale. But other than that the whole experience was just great. All of the staff was helpful and the atmosphere was warm and friendly despite the rain outside. I can’t wait to come back!

Traveller's tip on dining

There was a wonderful French restaurant within walking distance call Les Halles. It was tres magnifique!

Not worth it

The front desk was not accomodating at all, the air conditioning was broken in our room and they gave us complimentary continental breakfast, which was not a suitable compensation and bathrooms had glass so there was no privacy through the door. Wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

I would much rather stay at the Millenium or Marriott.

Surprising Value

We recently spent a long weekend in NYC and stayed at Gild Hall. We were very surprised to find a lovely small upscale hotel at such an affordable rate. I’m sure that it being in the financial district and a weekend helped. The hotel was very convenient to the Metro and close to the South Street Sea Port district. Although it wasn’t in one of the more active night life areas, it wasn’t a problem to get to any of them via the Metro. There were also a number of nice markets in close proximity that we made use of for breakfast and snacks. When we return to NYC we will make a point to stay here again.
