quite nice
slightly disappointed that the swimming pool was not heated (even though it was advertised so) because it is end of season (Oct). Also half of the restaurants were closed but it was easy enough to go to the sister hotel’s restaurants which was nicer. They should have mentioned that some of their facilities would be closed in Oct on their website.

Great Hotel, Great People, Crazy Price
I rated this hotel perfect mainly because of the people. The service was great, the area was beautiful. This hotel is more like a 4 star by appearence. Maybe its rated 5 star because of the level of service they provide and by the area it is located in. It was quite expensive but I think it was worth it. I enjoyed my stay there and will go back again.

Delightful experience
My elderly mother and I had a wonderful visit to the Elounda Bay Palace hotel. We loved the quiet elegance and the wonderful service. The pools and provision for sea swimming were excellent. The dining staff were especially helpful. All staff were welcoming and efficient. We especially liked the coffee lounge and the gentle live music accompaniment. The grounds are beautiful and the view from room stunning. This was a happy return visit for my mother who had stayed in Elounda in the seventies. Highly recommended.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Visit Spinalonga REad ’The Island’ and then visit all the places mentioned in this book about the leper colony. It really is quite evocative and moving. The boat trip is quick, cheap and pleasant.
