Walk to the best of Monterrey

I chose this hotel based on price more than anything and was not disappointed. We wanted to be near the Macroplaza, river walk, museums, restaurants, etc. In fact our 9th floor room had a perfect view of the macroplaza and all the way to the museums. Pasa Morelos pedestrian mall was just around the corner. Barrio antigua just a few hundred meters away. An easy walk to three great museums--Monterrey, Northeast Mexico, Mexican History. The hotel has a decent hot breakfast buffet. The only drawback was the business center. Computers extremely slow and very frustrating and usually had to wait to use the printer. Take your laptop.

Great location, but ....

Great location. Pool, gym and adjoining terrace was nice. Complimentary breakfast has changed (for the worse). A/C worked, but it’s not the best. For the past 2 years, in non-smoking floors, we had to endure noisy teens in the late evening. And, don’t ever leave anything behind when you check out---you won’t get it back. I lost my favorite (expensive) pillow. Also, don’t trust the security of the safe deposit box in room. I had a couple of $20 bills taken over a 2-day period. I reported it, but they said they "checked" the system and they didn’t find anything. The hotel price was the best (including free parking) but hotel has its problems.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

This hotel is very close to major attractions that are within walking distance. But keep your guard and don’t wear large, expensive jewelry.
