Good hotel in Hannover’s downtown
The Grand Maritime is a good hotel. I stayed there for business for over one week. Don’t be fooled by its ugly exterior since the rooms are quite nice. I got a room in an upper floor facing the Rathaus building (the City Hall) and the nearby Marchsee lake and park. There was no air conditioning in the room but for mid May opening the window was good enough. My only complain would be that the desk was too small for my computer and my notes and that there were not enough power outlets available near the desk (just one). The bathroom was functional and nice, breakfast was plentiful as it is usually in Germany but quite expensive. The hotel is located about half a mile from the Marchsee where you can go jogging or walking. It is also close to the soccer stadium and to the largest public swimming pool in the city. Also it is in downtown so there were plenty of restaurants, beer gardens, an organic supermarket, and the central market. It is good option for the price and I will probably use it next time I am back to Hannover.

Great for a short break
Ideal hotel for a ’before Christmas’ break, food outstanding, service very good, located opposite the City Hall, only 10mins walk to Hauptbahnof, all the shops and the traditional Christmas market - which is more ’german’ than many in that its for the locals not just the tourists. The hotel was delightfully quiet so very relaxing. Dinner & wine not cheap but of high quality with excellent servce. Best breakfast selection I have ever seen in a hotel, with excellent service made the whole stay really good.
