Poor Service
The bldg/rooms are very nice, but that’s it. You shouldn’t have to make 50 calls, over a 2 hr period, just trying to get someone to answer the phone for a wakeup call (alarm clock in room not working- and even in person, couldn’t get someone to the desk to help- no one at desk at 10 pm). Nor should you have to go to the front desk 5 diff. times to get new key cards b/c they failed to open the door. On the 2nd morning of my stay, the hotel mgr knocked on my door and advised that I should have checked out by noon, I was in the room illegally. Had to go back down to the front desk, with my itinerary, and show that everything had been paid, and I was indeed a paying customer. Frustrating. I also ordered a taxi well in advance, over 1 hr. before I needed one, and still had to wait for almost 1hr. past the scheduled time to actually get one. The hotel said they called 4 times, but that taxis aren’t that responsive to their particular location. The hotel had a shuttle bus and driver available, but refused to utilize them to get me to my appt. because it was 1/2 mile outside their 3 mi. radius for service. Super Frustrating. So many better places to stay that take the frustration out of traveling! This one isn’t customer minded at all!
Also, when I first contacted the hotel for advice about the best was to get from the Airport, IAH, to the hotel, I was told to take the SuperShuttle, and I would get there within 45 minutes. NOT TRUE. Sat on that thing for 2 hours before I finally arrived at the hotel. So many better places to stay that take the frustration out of traveling! This one isn’t customer minded at all!

Great hotel!
The location was central to everything I needed - work, Galleria for shopping, and restaurant row for a nice variety of food. I felt safe with the covered and secure parking. The rooms were small but surprisingly quiet even though the hotel is right off the freeway! There was ample hot water for the showers and nice towels - not thin and scratchy! I would definitely use the Crown Plaza - River Oaks for my next trip to Houston and would also recommend it to friends and colleagues.

Nice hotel. clean & friendly. small pool & parking fee got a sad face but over all everything was enjoyable
