Hotel is modern and clean, but not in good place.
Very convinient commute - bus stop near the entrance, but not recommend to walk at night in this area. Good to have breakfast including in the hotel price, because the hotel cafe rather expensive. We had breakfast in Chinatown 10 min walk from the hotel, it was much cheaper. All service were good, and we can recommend this hotel to others.

Great find!
The Chicago South Loop Hotel is a new development about a mile south of the downtown Chicago Loop. The rooms are large and comfortable, and decor is tasteful and classy. The rates are far better than at the competitors downtown, and parking is free. The hotel is actually so new that the first floor restaurant isnt finished and open yet. There is a bar/cafe open for business. No continental breakfast here, but that might change once the restaurant opens? Its less than two miles to the museum campus area, which isnt a bad walk in nice weather, though if you go up State St. rather than cutting over to Michigan avenue, youll have to pass several housing projects in shady areas, which may not be the best mode of transportation after dark. Fortunately, the #29 bus stop is right outside the hotel, providing easy access to the public transportation system. Ill definitely be staying here again when I visit Chicago. Great rooms, great price. Cant beat it.

Worth a try
We were visiting Hyde Park, where the hotel situation is bleak, and also wanted to go into the city and surrounding areas. This hotel was ideally situated, with large clean rooms and free parking. Though McCormick Place was not in our plans, it was within walking distance. Hotel is located in an area that was about to be gentrified (and eventually will be) before the economy tanked, and is a few blocks from Chinatown. The building interiors have been nicely remodeled. Drawback is lack of a decent restaurant. There is a coffee shop and a sports bar (with no food).
