The Worst, Horrible, not worth a dime!!!

PICK A DIFFERENT MOTEL!!!! The room was dirty, the beds were smaller than advertised and my neighbors were having a party from Midnight to 4am. I called the front desk...no answer. The next morning the owner said "It’s not my problem" This place is horrible. Pay $5 extra and go ANYWHERE else.

Good value

The motel is in one of the decent areas of San Fran. You don’t have as many homeless people as in other areas. The owners were very nice. We were assigned a room in the back (away from the street) and did not have any noise problems. Overall good value for the moderate price.

Hotel not what the reveiws state - look elsewhere

I picked this Hotel because the reviews looked good and for free parking. When checking in their was no where to park. The lot is also used by employees next door leaving very few spaces. The night was brisk and the rooms heater did not work. IT was cold and damp. But the worst part to of the stay was 3 cars were broken into - and one being my car. They windows were broken on all 3 cars and the office did not seem to care about our concerns. They did not have a shop vacuum or any thing to pick up the broken glass. All I would ask is better security and a little more sympathy for their guests.

Traveller's tip

Not a very secure parking lot. Three cars were broken into on July 24th 2009. And the office did not seem to care for it’s guest.

Perfect for us

I had heard mixed reviews about Town House. I was pleased with the service I recieved, had NO problems with either of the managers. On the contrary, they were very helpful and even printed out some tickets for me I had left at home by accident. The walls of the room do let alot of sound through which can be annoying. I had neighbors that kept opening and closing their door at night but other than that, street noise did not bother us and our room was fairly close to the street. We had a room with two beds and the bed closest to the bathroom was rightthere. Like one foot away from the door. So it seemed a little cramped. But well worth the rate we got and free parking... the bus stop to the wharf is three blocks North on Van Ness. If you walked slow like us it would take only 30 minutes to get there, 15 if you walk normally. It is very convenient to shops and restaurants right down the street. Its on the 101, so GG Bridge is 5 minutes down the road. I loved it!!

Cheap, get what you pay for.

I chose the hotel because of the rates and proximity to the Wharf. We had reserved a non-smoking room. The first room given was a disastor. We requested another and it was changed. The design is rather old so the main window faces the street and is next to the bed. That made it very noisy. We took a sleeping pill.

Nice People who manage it.

Was a good place for the money. Small rooms, but perfect for our needs.

Just a clean inexpensive room

Exactly what I expected for the price. If all you need is a clean inexpensive room to sleep in after a day of sightseeing and other touristy stuff, this is it. Not much in frills but a place to rest up after a full day of activities. At first, the elderly couple may seem a little gruff, but they are actually quite friendly when you get to talking to them. Fisherman’s Wharf is a decent walk away (about 10 minutes) and local transportation to other areas of the City are nearby.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Since they have FREE parking, leave your car and take local transportation to venues.

Tired but well placed

This hotel was well placed but beware the breakfast. It was ample for us but if you require more than a piece of fruit and a small muffin you will be dissapointed. It must be said that when looking online few offered breakfast although all this type of old style motel had breakfast. WI FI was good.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

All good just get out and walk. It is a big place but walking a few miles you get to see off the beaten track.

Highly recommended basic place to stay

Nice rooms, with a very big bed, small, but clean bathroom, nice shower. After all the best is the service. The owners treated my almost like a son. I felt very comfortable with them. One side note, try not to get room nr. 111. The laundry room is directly above, creating a very loud humming which starts at 9 am. I told the owners and got a new room immediately. Otherwise very quiet, the street noise was not an issue.

one of many along Lombard street

This place is very well maintained. The rooms are very nice and sort of secluded for a busy San Francisco street! Totally remodeled and modernized... I stayed her my first two nights (I was paying) and then went to the Marriott at Fisherman’s warf for the last two nights (the company paid). I was much happier at the Town House Motel! :) It was actually quieter! and of course only 1/4th the price! It’s a great hotel and I will be back.

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

The redwood trees in Muir woods and Muir beach are a must see. Also stop at Fred’s Coffee Shop in Sausalito, CA! You have to try the deep fried french toast!!!!!!

Noisy and management not helpfull

Close to FW, but stay in another Hotel if you want to sleep. There is a lot of noise and traffic. We asked for a non-smoking room and get one with a smell of drugs. We asked the management to change te room but he refused, it was late he said, it was 23.30, in the morning we get another room.It is not a pleasant stay with children. I think there are better places to stay.

Got the job done

The location wasn’t that great, but it’s a great hotel for the price and if you plan to see San Franisco and not spend all day inside.

What a bargain

The hotel is just a few mins drive away from Golden Gate Bridge and a 15 min bus ride from the wharf. The room is cosy and clean with all your basic needs. The owners are really friendly and helpful as well. The motel has free parking which is a huge bonus for us.

It is amazing where you can stay for such little money

We had a great time. Of course we just slept there and had breakfast, but that is vacations. People there was extremely nice and we did not have a problem. Unfortunately they are retiring soon, i hope the next one is as friendly as them. I definite recomend this place, very well located also.

Rest Assured

I pulled up late the night of check in and from the outside I was a bit concerned about the place judging by the looks of it. Once I checked in and went in my room I realized that there had been a lot of work done to the rooms and although I felt the room was a bit small, it was very comfortable and clean. I think that this would be the best deal of that part of town. Its smack dab in the middle of everything. Parking was a little snug, but I like the fact that you could park right in front of your room and to top it off there was free wi-fi. Can’t beat that.

Traveller's tip for business travellers

Mobile Office: I travel a lot for business and I often find it cumbersome that some hotels do not offer enough electrical outlets, and in hotels that do, have them in many different places. This will cause you to lose one of your adapters. Instead I found a small power strip bought new adapters that fit all my electronics and leave them plugged into the strip just for travel. It makes it 10 times easier packing and unpacking.

very nice staff.

The only problems I had with the hotel is that it smelled of cigarette smoke. I was unaware this was a smoking motel. Also the side of the bed was stained like there had been coffee spilled on it. The bed was very comfortable and the maid did an excellent job providing us with everything we needed. It was very comfortable. And it was very close to Fisherman’s Warf.

Wonderful

The owners here were great. We found them to be quite friendly and extremely helpful. It is a nice short walk to many of San Francisco’s attractions. It is in more of residential area, so it is not quite as busy (noisy) as some other places. Their rooms are very nice and clean. I would recommend this place to anyone going to San Francisco and we would stay here again.

Noisy Rooms

Although the hotel is a great value, the rooms are NOISY. It felt as if the roof was about to fall through and whatever you do, insist on a room away from the back corner. There is some machine that starts up at 8:30 am with a dull rumble that vibrates the walls. Beyond that, the place is great - close to enough to major attractions especially Fort Mason for a great morning walk!

Nice People

The room was clean but needed "detailing". The management was very kind to me after my unexpected accident of spraining my ankle. The area of the motel is great and safe. Easy walking to great locations. No air-conditioning but a fan was provided and that blocked out the street noise.

It provided the basics

For what I payed I recieved my moneys worth. It was very far from where I needed to be. But remember in San Fran a mile isnt the same alot of steep hills. Dont order the pizza from the pamphlet in the room...horriable. The bed was a little stiff but I wasnt at the a 5 star. Plenty of free parking also.

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

Dont even bother driving if your point of destination is around the hotel. Just walk beautiful city especially at night. Lots of noise, but if you werent lazy and walked you sleeep good. Life is a candle that burns at two ends so dont wast time...Good Journeys
