full of history

A georgian hotel in the middle of Salisbury. Full of charm and extremely comfortable. The lounge is very relaxing to sit in. The breakfast was excellent with attentive staff. Good sized rooms. Spotlessly clean.Secure large free car park If you have read the book titled ’the suspicions of mr whicher’ about the murder at road hill house you will know that this was the hotel the family stayed at during the trial in 1865. Other guests include Queen Victoria, Prince albert & Charles Dickens. The hotel has been updated but hasn’t lost it’s character.Would highly recommend

hotel is central to the city with the cathedral over the road and the high street shops nearby.

Undortunately we were left with a smoking room

It looks liek the hotel has had a total overhaul, except the 3/4 smoking rooms (we specifically asked for a non smoking room as I have chest problems) 1 of which we had. Also our shower didnt work which wasnt great. We went to reception but as they were fully booked we couldnt be moved and no compensation was offered.

Traveller's tip

Turn up early so you can move rooms if necessary!

Nice quaint place

Definitely a rest from the large, plastic hotel. A small, well-kept, charming place. A great spot for exploring greater Wiltshire. The cathedral, Stonehenge, The Lamb Inn in Hindon, Staurhead with its unbeleivable gardens. And Exbury’s gardens down towards the coast. Very nice internal restaurant. Friendly staff. I would return.
