Fairmont
Travelled end of October 2009 - have to say location of hotel is pretty much perfect, overlooks the Med and is a 5 minute walk from Casino Square and surrounding area. Hotel & restaurant great, room comfort good but not great, bathroom was not fantastic, clean but a little cramped. The hotel is large and the corridors are long with no security cameras and some blind corners - this needs to be addressed. Swimming pool gets 10/10 great views and service from the staff. Overall very impressed with the hotel.

Probably the best hotel in Monaco in terms of price/quality/location
There are some more gorgeous hotels in Monaco, but they’re near Grand Casino. There’s one hotel with own beach. But it’s rather far (if it’s possible to tell that someting is far there :-)) from the center of the Principality. But if you wanna be near public beaches in the morning and close to main activities in the evening - this is the best choice.
Traveller's tip on shopping
For non-EU travellers. Absolutely the Europe’s worst tax free refund in Nice airport. Customs is OK. But the cash desk is incredibly bad. Employees are real sleepyheads, very slow. We’ve spent more than 1 hour to receive our cash. They are not eager to pay big amounts from one check. Cash refund limit - 1500 euro. Don’t even try to receive tax from other countries. We had some checks from Germany and they were declined. With no reason.

Incredible!
Admittedly we were lucky to get this room during a "half price" special, but we would even pay the normal price and return here. Everything was amazing. The service was impeccable. The decor was appealing. Great selection of restaurants. Lovely pool. The room was a comfortable size and the view (we did upgrade our room for a relatively small fee) of the Mediterranean was something we’ll never forget. Stay here at least once in your life!
