A great autumn getaway
We booked a last-minute trip to the Algarve in mid-October, looking for sun and relaxation, and found a very reasonable deal with the 3-star Santa Catarina Hotel. The hotel was very well presented, and the reception staff were helpful and all spoke English. Our room was spotless, and was cleaned each day. The hotel has no swimming pool, but you don’t miss it as the beach is only a couple of minutes walk. You can hire sunbeds and parasols, and the sea was warm enough for swimming. There are lots of little cafes along the beach, with toilets and showers for beach users. The hotel was just a couple of minutes walk from the main strip of restaurants and bars. This is obviously a popular area with English people - the opening theme of Coronation Street could be heard coming from a few bars! The food was quite cheap, but did vary in quality.

Great beaches within a few minutes walk; bring a few extra euros to hire sunbeds and parasols.
