Uniquely Beautiful
The Delta Queen is a retired riverboat docked permanently on the river in Chattanooga. It is located on the north "shore" of the river adjacent to Coolidge Park and shopping and restaurants. Walking/jogging trails all along the river bluffs. Two bridges flank the Delta Queen-one totally pedestrian and the other easily walkable that lead into the downtown area where Ross Landing and the Tenn. Aquarium among other things are located. The views of the river and city from the decks of the Queen are unvelievable. I had a standard room but upgraded to a master suite, one that Princess Margaret slept in, on the river side. The bed was comfy. The decor is pure history and is finely maintained. The staff is helpful and friendly. The price was reasonable. Free breakfast was delicious!!! I was there for The Head of the Hooch Regatta and it was amazing. I will def stay there again.
Plan your trip to Chattanooga during peak fall foliage (end of Oct-first of Nov). The color is magnificent and the afternoons are warm enough for shorts.

Nice Experience
Staying on a river boat sounded very exciting. It was a lovely "hotel", and the history within was really neat. In these modern times though, if you go, go thinking this is the place you go and forget you are in the 21st century. There are no modern hookups - no room phones, no TV, no internet. The food was great. The staff was friendly and outgoing. The valet attendants were wonderful. The only draw back - was the size of the room and esp. the size of the bathroom. My husband is 64" and nearly burned his head on the light in the bathroom - it is a one person room!! The neighboring park is worth going to for a picnic, or just sit and people watch! There are plenty of restaurants nearby along with The TN Aquarium and the Hunter Museum. Maybe not worth the extra cost over more modern accomodations, but worth the ambiance.

Romantic getaway
Great for a couple of days. Very tight quarters since you are on a old riverboat. Atmosphere is great. Would not recommend for families with children since no TV in room and small room. Complimentary breakfast delicious. Easy access to downtown attractions, i.e., aquarium, IMAX, etc.
