Budapests hidden gem - "an awesome apartment"
We stayed at the Opera Residence Apartment in Budapest a few weeks back for 5 days. After staying in mid-rate hotels in Prague and Vienna it was nice to have a larger space to stay in for the time we were in Budapest. The place was in a really good location right around the corner from the Budapest Opera, and lots of lounges, bars very close by. The place itself is managed by a joining mgmt. company hosting Hostels and they also have a few Apartments in this complex. The Studio apartment was more like a 1-bedroom in that there was a separate bedroom open to the living room and a nice sized kitchen with all updated amenities. And both a shower / sink room with washing machine, and a seperate room for toilet. I really liked this place. We arrived and brought groceries for the week for when we were not sight seeing and were able to feel like we were sort of living here for a bit. The only negative would be that the bed itself was not that comfortable, but good enough. Also the staff at Broadway Hostels were quite friendly and all spoke English. Lastly all the Thermal Baths houses were awesome to visit. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Budapest for any length of time.

Great place to stay in Budapest
We had a wonderful stay in this comfortable hostel. It was clean, roomy, and conveniently located to attractions in the city. Price was right as well. Staff were accommodating and pleasant. This isnt a fancy hotel. Its a hostel. Bring your own soap and shampoo and a sense of adventure. You wont be disappointed!
Great for families as each unit will sleep four. With a full kitchen, you can save money by having breakfast in the room. Centrally located, we walked all over the city.

Sloppy service
First of all, there seems to be "no there, there," i.e., no reservations desk. We had to check in and have all contact through the desk of the adjacent hostel. We arrived in the afternoon after a long couple of flights to find our room not made up. Our tried and true method to fight Euro jet lag is to go to sleep for a couple of hours immediately upon arrival, but we couldnt do that, as the room wasnt made up. Had to go out for a couple of hours when at we were at our most tired, dirty and cranky. It was hot, and with the windows open, there was a lot of noise preventing sound sleep. (See "adjacent hostel" mentioned earlier.) Also: no fan, cross breeze, or AC. Having said all of this, the place did fit the bill for our needs, which were #1) a place big enough for four, and #2) a decent spot to crash before continuing our trip the next day. For guests planning a longer stay, the locations great - central Budapest.
