Nice little place
While smaller and more modest than the term "palazzo" might imply to a visitor, Ca Favretto is very friendly and homelike. The staff were helpful and patient, no matter how clueless I was, and were always ready with directions and pointers when I needed them. I had an economy room and didnt expect it to be big; however, the floor was a bit on the cold side and a throw rug by the bed would have been a nice touch. I loved coming down to the Sala for their excellent breakfast (really great eggs--I want the recipe!), where I could watch the morning traffic on the Grand Canal from the balcony. The pretty little courtyard was always a wonderful sight to come home to after a day of wandering.
Be aware that in Venice even the most detailed walking directions can be hard to follow, and the street names on the map may not match those on the signs. The maps are in Italian, while the street signs were painted in Venetian--spellings are often quite different. Most of the people I met were very helpful, but I dont think they realize just how impenetrable their city can be to an outsider. "Take a right, then two lefts" sounds simple until youre out there in the maze and your second left seems to be a dead end. When in doubt, find a vaporetto and get on it.

Perfect place to stay in Venice!
We stayed here for two nights, and it was not enough. Great location near shopping but away from the tourists - although it was a little hard to find at first. Still, we could walk there from the parking lot even with luggage. The customer service was excellent. They recommended the BEST restaurant we ate at the whole trip. Beautiful antiques. Everything was SO CLEAN. Love it! Made my new wife extremely happy.
