Where’s the storage?

This is a new hotel, opened June this year, but there are no shelves or drawers to stow gear, just hanging rod. OK if only staying 1 night, but very inconvenient for longer stays. Also had very hot duvets and no A/C. Buffet breakfast was excellent, fresh hot and cold choices and reasonably priced. Parking in municipal car park behind hotel was free from 6 pm to 8 am.

Good Value

We stayed overnight after dropping our daughter at University. This is a new hotel and centrally located for visiting Exter city sights and shopping. Clearly just a chain, but comfortable and good value for money. The buffet breakfast was good, albeit a little bland.

Good in some ways but mean on details

I was booked into a room in the front near the Paris Street roundabout and if I opened the window, the noise of traffic was intolerable, even at night - there was a delivery at the front at 4am which woke me up. If I closed the window, the double glazing kept the noise out, but I didn’t travel to the Westcountry to breathe air conditioning all night. I thought the room was very niggardly on details - no doors on the wardrobe and nod drawers at all. So I had to live out of my suitcase which is ok for one night but not three. In the shower there was not enough ledges or places to put things. The usual hotel toilet paper, three inches wide and made of gossamer, totally useless. So few lights in the room, with ridiculous apologies for beside lamps, it was impossible to read or do much else after dark. The window reached right down to bed level and had no nets or anything like that, and is right opposite the P.O. sorting office windows and multi storey car park, so you feel all the time you are in the public gaze unless you draw the curtains completely. The hotel was fine for cleanliness and service.

The breakfast quite acceptable (but Debenhams in Princesshay is cheaper)
