Superb - aside from breakfast cost
Hotel was superb - interesting building with rooms and facilities sympathetically integrated into the building - great views from the eighth floor and above. All staff exceptionally polite and helpful. Only downer was breakfast at the hotel, we had booked room only with no clue as to the likely breakfast cost at the hotel. Info in the room only detailed the "room-service" breakfast/meal costs. Having the full buffet breakfast cost €28 PP (@ Dec ’08). It’s a very fine breakfast, but even so that much and no prior warning before the bill comes is a bit sneaky.
Either walk or get the tram (Poststrasse stop is about 100m from the hotel) and get a coffee and a couple of rolls from one of the may bakeries or coffee shops.

Wasserturm clean, convenient, and elegant
Wasserturm is a unique hotel nestled in the neighborhoods of Cologne. It has unique style and architecture. It is also convenient to public transportation and with quick reach to the center of Cologne. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. For these reasons it is ideal for both business and a couple’s getaway. In addition, from the rooms on the upper floors all of Cologne can be viewed via a surrounding balcony. On the downside, the amenities were pricey, so for cost conscious travelers it leaves something to be desired.
