Nice Hotel in Genoa

The Bristol Palace Hotel was a good location from which to explore Genoa. It’s an easy walk to the Metro, the port and other activities plus one of the train stations. Our room was very large with a high ceiling. It was comfortably furnished with a modern bath. A full breakfast buffet was included and it was large and delicious. There is a small bar. The staff was very helpful.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

It is easy to get to many of the small coastal towns by train from Genoa. We went to Nervi - a 30 minute train ride. It was quaint and allowed us to walk along the Mediterranean. Eat at Zeffirino - pricey but excellent food and service! The Pope enjoys the chef’s homemade pesto.

Old world charm but run down

Hotel has no non-smoking rooms,. First reeked of cigar with burn holes in the bedpost, but reception was kind and understanding to give me a new one. Decor is semi-clean, old world classic, but run down. Breakfast is excellent. Location is excellent for walking into old town centre.

The service was bad

Despite the fact that there was an option for non-smoking rooms, the manager said that there was no difference between smoking/non-smoking room. Therefore we had to sleep in a smoking room, with a bad odour. Moreover we booked a double bed and we got 2 twins! At night we asked for two extra pillows and the manager said, after 3 hours, that there were no pillows left in the hotel!!! The staff did not care about our problems!! They were completely indifferent and rude!
