Basic but good for one night
Friendly staff. Basic room but we were only staying for one night and didnt need anything fancy. The egg and beans at breakfast were very welcome! In a good location, next door to a pub and a 10 minutes walk from Hammersmith and around 5 from Goldhawk Road tube station.

Quite revolting
I know cheap hotels in London are always a bit grim, but this was worse than most. Normally they are at least cleaned properly, even if the carpets are threadbare and the fixtures decades old; but this place was frankly dirty, and there was a long black hair on the tabletop in my room. The room had an ancient, grimy-looking freestanding shower cabinet which you couldnt have paid me to use. The TV reception was dreadful. The room was cramped because it was full of pointless furniture - wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table and even a (really old) fridge - but they hadnt bothered to provide a bedside light, or a lampshade to cover the bare bulb. Breakfast was Tesco cornflakes and scrambled/fried eggs with white toast. I know budget hotels cant splash out on expensive food, but they could at least have stretched to a choice of cereals. I definitely wouldnt stay here again.

Excellent, low budget place
Plaza Hotel is the average low budget hotel in central London. Very basic, old building, so-so neighborhood (yeah, this means it can be dangerous at night), tiny room (they all are in London, even in much more expensive places), noisy street. In my experience, this place offers the same kind of comfort as twice more expensive three star hotels and is much better than the local hostels. The place is close to the Hammersmith metro station (right on the line to Heathrow), there is a mall nearby and plenty of cheap restaurants and bars around, room service is adequate, got five channels on TV. Big bonus, English breakfast is included and wireless internet is available free of charge. Overall, if you dont plan to spend all day in the room, Plaza Hotel is the place to stay for a low budget trip to London.
