excellent hotel
Hotel centrally located in Pest, about 200 yards from the Opera House just off Andrassy Utca, one of Pests main thoroughfares. The room was huge, en suite facilities excellent, no bath (unfortunately) but luxurious shower. Very simple decor, but very comfortable. The room looked over an internal courtyard with ivy falling from the balconies, very quiet. The continental breakfast (included in the price) was fine. The dining room is a glass-covered courtyard - superb. Staff were very friendly and helpful. No problems with the hotel at all - would recommend without hesitation.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
A night at the opera is worthwhile - I got a ticket to Verdis Sicilian Vespers for just 600huf (2.00 pounds) - in the gods and not very good view but excellent performance. A day out in Szentendre (by boat up river) is well worth it too. Budapest has lots of attractions and is very easy to walk around.
