Well worth considering
Great location and only a 5 minute walk from the train station. The hotel was lovely, although quite old fashioned in style. The breakfast area - and the outside courtyard was just lovely with very helpul and friendly staff. The breakfast itself was ok with a nice choice of pastries. The bedroom was a reasonable size although a bit gloomy with dark carpets, bedcovers etc. Not a hotel for those who like a modern contemporary look. Sheets changed daily which was lovely.
The Palazzo Pitti was a wonderful experience. You pay according to what parts you want to visit, exhibitions etc. You can easily spend a day here and worth every penny. The tour bus is a must and a good way to travel around and outside the city. We had some pretty disappointing meals the first couple of days so we then stuck to restaurants recommended in the guide books. Difficult in Florence but do try and avoid the touristy restaurants - you can get better pasta at home! Tuscan Wine Tour was just fantastic - the ones recommend by Expedia are great value for money and much cheaper than many others on offer.

Excellent mid range hotel in Florence
The Rivoli was in a superb location if you travel by bus or train as its 5 minutes walk from the station. it is also only approx 10 minutes walk into the main area for shops and restaurants, of which there are many. The location was safe and had some character. All the staff were most helpful in every aspect and were very friendly with good english language skills. The rooms were of a good size and kept very clean. The breakfast is only average although a limited cooked option of scrambled egg, bacon and sausage is included , so not bad for a continental hotel although the breakfast room can get fairly busy at peak times. Overall a more than satisfactory choice for our stay in Florence.

A very nice hotel in a good location. Central for most sites and only 5 minutes from the railway station. Front desk were very helpful and requests were dealt with promptly. Clean, comfortable and well maintained. Only complaint was the bathroom is small.
