basic but well-situated
Don’t be confused by the proximity of the new Haghia Sofia mosque - it’s around the corner from this apartment, but not the more famous place of that name. I made that mistake, but no problem - it’s still only 10-15 minutes walk from the main attractions in Sultanahmet. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. The place is very basic, but clean and comfortable, and fairly quiet, and decent value if you’re on a budget. If you’re given the room beyond the (shared) second floor bathroom, be careful. Every time someone else uses the loo when you’re sleeping, a little (pointless) window placed between the bedroom and bathroom will illuminate your room and wake you up.

A practical and economical place to stay in Istanbul
This apartment looks exactly like the picture, with modern and good facilities. Be sure to get one of the brothers to pick you up at first because the location is very confusing. There are two completely different streets with same name and number. The area is full of local homes and shops, which gives you a great sense of genuine Istanbul neighborhood. Two brothers who run the apartment are very nice and quiet. They won’t try to sell you anything but won’t volunteer anything unless you ask. I got a great deal from Hotels.com in Sep 09, getting a double room to myself for the same price of hostel single room but with many better amenities of air conditioner, free internet, satellite tv, full kitchen, bathroom, etc. I definitely recommend this place for anyone, including large families who may want not want to eat out every meal.

Good for the money
this hotel was hard to find and is a little walk away from the blue mosque, however, if you want the the ability to cook for yourself I recommend this place. The rooms are decent size (we were lucky enough to get the room with the balcony) however, you should know that the kitchen and bathroom are to be shared with 2 other rooms.
I would recommend something closer to all the attractions
