Sheraton Fishermans Wharf
Great location, hotel was clean and a great place to crash after a long day of walking. We usually stay at condos or vacation homes, but were really pleased with the hotel. The location cannot be beat, even if you do not like the frantic atmosphere of Fishermans Wharf, you are a nice walk away from Coit Tower and from there Chinatown and then a quick hop to Union Square. If walking is not your thing, you can take a cab for a few dollars, cable cars are fun but pricey and not a real efficient use of time (long lines depending on the day). The hotel was lovely, bright and updated nicely. Loved the martini bar in the lobby in the evening, great martinis but pricey!
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
you will love SF more if you walk around it, there is lots to see beyond the tourist trap stuff(Fishermans Wharf). You can waste a lot of money on gimmicks that are less than memorable (i.e ripleys museum and wax museum). San Francisco is a city that needs to seen while walking on your own two legs, when those give out, take a cab youll only spend a few dollars and save lots of time.

Noisy, rude employees, bad service, NEVER AGAIN!
Worst hotel stay Ive ever had. The room was so incredibly noisy that my wife and I couldnt sleep. The room was tiny, cramped. Hotel employees were far more concerned with their co-workers and complaining about their boss than anything having to do with the customers. You couldnt pay me to stay there again.
