Very nice

Stayed here for business meeting at the Gaylord National Convention Center which is down the road and three times as expensive. Place is very clean comfortable and hip.

Lacking in hospitality

Found this hotel wanting in guest services. The room was moderately clean and arriving back one day after meetings, found that at 5:30 pm the room had still not been made up and no fresh towels. A call to housekeeping resulted in being told that housekeeping got off at 6 and there was not enough time to make up the room. A request for a printed copy of the final bill was met with a sullen "we can’t give you that". Fortunately, the next morning a more accomodating clerk was at the front desk and printed off a statement. The location was great, but that didn’t make up for the mediocre service and facility.

Reasonable option in expensive National Harbor

Overall, the staff was friendly and attentive. I really liked the design of the hotel especially the outdoor seating area at night. I only have two gripes. First, the bed is pretty hard. I stayed at a Hilton in Seattle immediately following my stay at Aloft and it was shocking how much better the bed was. Second, on my final night I returned to my room after a night out in DC to find it empty. When I called the lobby they informed me there had been a maintenance problem and I had been moved to a different floor. They gave me new keys but made no apology or offer to make up for it. I was a little disappointed, not to mention that it was weird to have someone move all my stuff.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

If you end up in National Harbor without a car, it is very easy to catch a bus from the street in front of the hotel to the green metro line. This is a better option than taking the water taxi to Alexandria and catching the metro there.
