Rooms straight out of the 70s
This hotel was classic! It’s located in the back streets of the Manama souqs and when you walk inside the receptionists are hardly humping over the desk to welcome you. When I walked into my room I couldn’t help but laugh. It clearly hadn’t been renovated since the 1970s and was kitch central. The breakfast was pretty rubbish but the hotel seems cheaper than others. Don’t expect a drink here after a hot day roaming the Souq. Apparently the owners are the strict types
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Drive round with the local taxi drivers. Some of the most friendly in the world and they’re also great tour guides. What’s more the taxis are strictly regulated so they can’t rip you off. Taxis in Bahrain are cheap as chips

Old hotel with a good value for money
The hotel is old and located on down town bahrain (Old Bahrain), its nice there and you find all you need a walking distance around the hotel. The staff is very helpful.

4 days holiday trip to Manama and stayed in the Oriental Palace Hotel
Last September 2009 from 21 to 24 I was in Bahrain and got the budgeted hotel through Expedia.com. I had a wonderful experience in the hotel, the staffs were friendly and supportive. Every hotel there are some pros and cons and always have comments from the travellers, I do have the same for the Oriental palace Hotel. First of all conjusted car parking, since I travelled from Saudi Arabia by Infiniti Qx4 jeep I found difficulties to find a parking space. For the first two days there was a lickage in the toilet water flasher and door lock was not ok. After my shower I closed the bathroom door then I couln’t able to open it back and complained to the desk but advised me to use some tricky with the key corner to open it...it was funny. Overall I found the hotel is quite ok for the budget travellers and I recommned for it.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Since I had my own car so I able to travel all the parts of Bahrain from North to South and West to East in two days but I missed night clubs and watching movies as well as museum... hope next time.
