Very pleasant stay

This was a very good hotel. Breakfast was wonderful. I appreciated the hair dryer and iron/ironing board in the room. The location was perfect for exploring all the wonderful historic sites of Odense. We will definitely stay here again. (Our room was a little dusty).

Hans Christian Andersen would have stayed here!

The hotel is close to the station- cross the road and turn left -walk until you reach the car park for the Concert House and cross diagonally to the hotel. It is in the restored old part of the town- a few minutes from H.C.Andersen?s house and the shopping streets. There is an underground Casino and access to the Concert Hall but neither intrudes. The hotel is quiet and well-run with very helpful English speaking staff. The bedrooms are quiet and comfortable and the Breakfast Buffet is excellent. The restaurant is also excellent in the evening and the prices compare well to the town. There is a Saturday market selling flowers and local produce outside the hotel on a Saturday- you can watch the activity while you eat breakfast. You don’t need to venture far from the hotel to experience a lot of different things but it would have been helpful to have more information about local events like the market or the Beer Festival which was on while we were there. There was another market selling antique bric-a-brac and textiles but it was packing up before we found it. It would have been good to know that shops close at 2p.m. on Saturday and re-open Monday at 10 a.m. so the town is quiet at the week-end. Just a little notice board in the Foyer would do. There are no tea making facilities in the rooms but this seems to be normal for Denmark. Room service will bring you an insulated jug of tea which will give several cups and will keep warm for a while.

In the summer months take a train south to Svendeborg ( 40 minutes away) and go on a 2 hour mini cruise round the islands.

Excellent city centre location

The hotel is superbly located in the centre of Odense, and within walking distance of most of the city centre shops and main attractions in particular the H.C. Andersens museum is only a few minutes walk down a pretty cobbled street filled with colourfully painted and typical Danish houses. The hotel itself is adequate and is slightly better than average with regards to room decor, layout and facilities when comparing to the average or typical city centre ’chain’ hotel.

Take breakfast in the hotel on a sunny Saturday morning, and get there early to get a good window seat view of the local produce market which right outside the hotel. Sip your coffee, eat your more than adequate breakfast, and relax and watch the world go by. Then burn off a few of those newfound calories with a meander down the cobbled street of the market, maybe buy some flowers, fruit or fresh bread.....
