Hala Hotel - Muscat
In business district, amidst rubble! Looks to be built fairly recently, not many taxi drivers know where it is, but can find it easily enough... There will no doubt be more hotels surrounding it soon. Very nice people, let us check in early and check out late. Breakfast is usual (Sometime odd) Middle East buffet style... We had 2 bed suites and they were very spacious - both rooms en suite plus living room and kitchen plus additional bathroom. Complementary drinks in fridge... Wireless internet throughout, which we got half price but had some problems staying connected though this could have been down to a rubbish laptop! Get a taxi from the street outside, as they double the price if the hotel books it, and of course agree the price beforehand. It’s a 2 minute walk to main road, and there is a etrol station where we stocked up on cold drinks and usually got a taxi within a few minutes... No bar - if you want that stay in one of the chain hotels or on the Corniche...

Good hotel for the price
Hotel is located near construction in the Ruwi area, so bring your earplugs unless you want to hear beep-beep of construction equipment. The buffet breakfast (provided) and lunch (extra) were very good and offered a varied choice of foods. The lobby was a great place to relax before beginning a tour. Most rooms feature a full kitchen, a nice extra.
