great hotel and service, leisure facilities a bit disappointing
The hotel was modern and sleek and our room was a good size. The staff were friendly and helpful and were happy to make restaurant and taxi bookings etc. The location was great, right in the harbour with a nice selection of restaurants on the doorstep. The only downside for me were the leisure facilities. Had we had the kind of weather I expected in the South of France it would have been fine but we managed to hit a weekend of violent thunderstorms and torrential rain and clearly the leisure facilities are designed purely for hot weather. There was a jacuzzi on the roof and it would have been great to sit up there in between downpours but unfortunately it appeared to be set to cold and was largely unattended. When I did find a staff member they said it didn’t have a hot setting and this meant we couldn’t really make use of the leisure facilities.

For a great dinner in a stunning setting Chez Tania at the top of the nearby Calanque was fantastic.

A little gem
La Ciotat is a small port town and a great place to relax for a few days. Best Western hotel is very modern, clan and with excellent facilities. Hotel is decorated to very high standard and ahs a fantastic infinity pool and jacuzzi on the roof.

Nice place to stay in small coastal town
this is a very new hotel, it actually still smells new! the decor embraces its location adjacent to the working port/ship yard of La Ciotat. indeed the port merely adds to the character of the place, and we never noticed any noise from it. the fawyer of the hotel is a stones throw into the marina, and the town itself is typical of this part of the coast, with many restaurants, an old town, a beach within walking distance, it is excellent for both relaxation and culture. for a small town there was a lot to do, with art galleries and exhibitions and a jazz festival, as well as a ’semi permanent’ fare in town that opened at night, which would be great for kids.
the ’route des cretes’ over to cassis is an amazing road to travel, via cap canaille and many other vantage points. dont use a car, hire a scooter or if you re fit, a bicycle!
