Easy access to the city
We stayed at this hotel to avoid paying the expensive rates of hotels in the city. It’s not far from the Darien metro north station and we were able to get into the city with no problem. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful and even let us check in early. Our only problem was finding transportation back to the hotel when we got back from the city late at night. The hotel shuttle had stopped running and we tried 4 different cab companies that would not come get us. All in all the hotel is wonderful, but if you are using it as a substitute for a hotel in the city make sure you can get back to the hotel at night!

Did what it said on the tin
The bottom line is this is a good, clean, comfortable business chain hotel that gave us a great rate for a family of four. We chose it for our holiday as there is little other choice of hotel in the Greenwich to Westport coastal area. Very considerate and helpful staff, nice warm pool and good gym and the local area Darien/Norwalk border is fine. Get your breakfast at Orem’s in Wilton, or brunch at Ole Mole in Darien, or visit Stew Leonards in Norwalk for great store food. Plenty of stores around hotel such as Trader Joes, and fast food if you’re desperate. The one real gripe was the noisy in-room aircon units that make it very hard to sleep... the windows don’t open. These units are typical of what you get in hotels where they can’t install integrated aircon. The side of the hotel facing the I95 is also a bit noisy. That said after we flooded our room and our neighbours when the shower plumbing failed we got moved to a new and quieter room facing the post road. Just take some ear plugs for the aircon units!

Very impressive
The bed was sooo comfortable. The rates were very affordable. I will be looking for any other DoubleTree I can find.
