Relaxed and Elegant
The hotel is old -- but that is part of its charm and elegance. It was a haven from the crowds of Venice ... we could tour in the morning, retreat to the peaceful atmosphere of The Lido in the afternoon to sit by the pool and return (or not) to Venice via the hotels taxi service from the companion hotel.

Huge hotel, huge rooms, great service
Although relatively old, the usable space and the rooms are well maintained and kept clean. You have an impression that you are in a palace. Usually I have a claustrophobic feeling in hotels, but not in this one. What we got as a regular room most hotels would call it an "Executive Suite". Tranquil waterfront and trees all over. Best way to visit Venice and avoid the overcrowded small and ultra expensive hotels in its center. There is a free water shuttle taking hotel guests to the center, right in front of St. Marcos cathedral and back.

Beautiful period hotel though badly let down by air con failure
This beautiful hotel is set in fantastic gardens with a swimming pool and easily acesses a private beach on the Adriatic sea side of the Venezia Lido. The hotel iteself is a gorgeous period hotel with very warm and welcoming staff and our stay would have been fantastic but for the air-con failing half way through our six night stay. This is our second visit to Venice in late September (previously a different hotel) and on both occasions our hotels air-con has failed in temperatures of twenty eight deg C by day which has resulted in sleepless and restless nights and thus a tired return to the UK. Coincidence or policy to switch off air-con when peak season has passed?? Our visit was last week of September.
If hotel policy is for air-con not to be available outside of peak season, then avoid late Sept & early Oct and also similar period prior to start of the peak season.
