Great Hotel and Staff
My girlfriend and I stayed at The Shirley for 4 nights in Sept 09. First off, what a beautiful building that has been lovingly and tastefully redecorated. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was always delicious and there was plenty of it too with lots of choice! The room was nicely decorated and although not the biggest room I’ve ever stayed in, it was big enough for our needs and far bigger than some others I’ve had to stay in. There was plenty of storage in the room as well, which can be a rarity. Overall… we had a great stay at The Shirley and can highly recommend it! Unless of course, grotty characterless hotels with unhelpful staff and horrid breakfasts are much more your style ;-)

Next time I go to Torquay, I will stay here
I went with a couple of friends. The customers ranged of all ages. The staff are really friendly. Each time we went in and out, they always had a conversation with us, i.e asking what we have been up to. They also suggested attractions to visit. Dissapointed that the pool wasnt open. The weather was bad the first day but it was really nice the other days so they could have opened it. If you were desparate to swim though, they would happily open the pool especially for you. I will definately stay there again and will recommend it to anyone!
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Buses around Torquay are very expensive. If you are there for at least 4 days you can get a bus ticket for the whole time for cheaper!
