Service a shambles
This lovely newly renovated Palazzo, has a small number of suites providing potential for a hideaway retreat from the large hotels of Malta. Our suite (Prince Charles) was roomy and had an outside terrace. Palazzo Capua is now owned by The Palace Hotel (a five minute walk away for breakfast) and the taxi needs to leave you there to check in. Unfortunately, the management, whilst very polite, have designed their rooms without any thought to their paying guests. There’s a kettle but you’ll need to put it on the floor to use it as the flex is too short to reach the socket, a phone that can’t get an outside line or call the hotel reception, a trouser press that you’ll need to carry around the room to plug in, an en suite you’ll need to walk down some precarious steel steps to get to in the middle of the night, a bathroom door that doesn’t actually close as the catch has been fitted upside down and two large TVs for which you’ll have to share a remote control with the suite next door. If you want extra towels or your bed making with a blanket, be prepared to ask every single day of your stay as just because its provided today, doesn’t mean you can have it tomorrow. And if you want a light bulb for the bedside light, be prepared to wait 8 hours and complain to the manager. If all this sounds like more work that you intend on your holiday, you might consider a different venue - we certainly would.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Take the local buses which are inexpensive and a real experience. Pay the driver on entry and get a route map free from the Sliema ferry harbour where most buses stop.
