great place to stay.
The outside of the building and finding the hotel may put you off but once you’ve arrived it’s probably on of the most comfortable, friendly and central hotels that you’ll find, and the visa registration is painless. Overall, very good, especially for the price - even the buffet is good, better than most ’continental’ style brekkies that are supplied. Would happily go back.
Traveller's tip on dining
prices on the main road (nevski prospect) have increased dramatically, but search out the cake and coffee shops - a cake and coffee can be cheaper in these places than a coffee in some of the more ’western’ soft seat style cafes.

Sky Hotel
Great hotel, very centrally located for all the sights and local transport. Excellent breakfast hosted by its sister hotel The Grand. The only gripe was that the invitation cost 40 pounds. Surely this should be included in the hotel charge??
