Private Hideaway

Small but beautiful Hotel in picturesque environment. This Hotel transfers the atmosphere of a caribean hideaway. The room as well as the garden with its beautiful palm trees is passionatlty decorated with items either useful or beautiful. Nice view over the water - cllean pool. For swimming you better use the pool- the sea is too flat and with tons of seaweed not very inviting. Neither is the smell of the rotting seaweed. A common problem of the keys. Service is: You help yourself and pay later for your consumption. This principle still works here- it is nice to be with people who trust each other. If you want to relax in a quite place- this is your place.

Laid back leisure, small friendly Keys resort

At first glance, we were a bit disappointed. We got to Marathon very late, the tide was out & the seaweed had a strong smell. They needed to clean out some plastic bottles that washed on shore. But once we settled in and relaxed, we grew to really enjoy our stay. The Keys are not the place for sandy beaches, shelling, high rolling surf. However, this family run resort had charm, the owners were WONDERFUL, the room was spotless, the swimming pool also spotless and (with so few rooms at the resort) we mostly had it to ourselves. We met great people around the BBQ grill at night or watching the sunrise on the dock. If you want a "get away from it all" place to stay, this is it.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

We were in Room 6 w/a full kitchen. Buy groceries at Winn Dixie up in Marathon and you can save money rather than eating out every day. Also - for the fishing trip of a lifetime, get a charter with Top Notch - we had Captain Ariel. My boyfriend loved it and even a female novice like me was treated with respect and patience. Janet @Top Notch can see if she can book you with other intersted parties to drop the price per person.
