It was quite nice
Room was very comfortable and clean. Some damp noted in bathroom ceiling There is no ventilation in the bathroom. Mini bar very expensive as expected. Good lighting. No view from out room as it was at the back of the hotel. Food - we only had breakfast buffet. It was nice food but cold. The staff couldn’t keep up with clearing away. Staff - very friendly and would help when asked. However no information was offered, e.g. checking out time, car parking restrictions, help with lugage, how to use the lift, time of breakfast. Often plates and dishes were left out in the corridors of the rooms for whole days. Location - close to Newcatle and close to train station. Easy to find from the A1. Local amenities - loads of bars and restaurants locally. Loads of taxi companies available. Cinema though only has 1 screen and few showings. Not much to do if you don’t want to look at the buildings or go out of town.
Expensive for what it is but still nice.

Radisson Sas Hotel Durham
This is a newer hotel that is just a 15-20 min walk from the train station. It is located on a river walk with easy access to the old part of town. This is a very nice place to stay while visiting Durham.

a great weekend break
It was my second stay in this hotel and I will certainly go back again. It is in a lovely location in Durham - on the river and a short walk to lots of bars, restaurants and shops. The leisure facilities are good and room comfort excellent.
Just go over the bridge outside the hotel, cross the road and up some steps and you will find a buzzing square with lots of bars and restaurants.
