Nice Hotel
I liked the Austrotel. If you’re going to be walking from the train station, it’s a little bit of a walk, but nothing terrible. People at the front desk were nice. Call the front desk for free wi-fi. The hotel is well within walking distance of all the sites in Salzburg. Overall, I’d recommend staying here.

Great location
We have stayed in Salzburg before and love the city. The hotel was in a very convenient location to the old town, shops, restaurants, etc. The room was quaint and small (we were on the top floor with sloping ceiling) but adequate for our needs. Lovely shower. Only problem was that there is no air conditioning and we had to keep the windows shut due to street noise (even on the 5th floor). As we arrived after 1pm on a Saturday, we could even park outside all night for free.
There are lots of restaurants around the area - try the "Gasthof zum fidelen Affen" (jolly monkey) in Priestergasse if you like Austrian food.
